Descriptions of Speech Events

Stoa has 12 different speech events--something to interest every student!  Below are descriptions of the 12 Stoa speech events.  Legacy students are required to compete in at least 2 speech events.  

• First speech: either a platform or interpretive speech.  

• Second speech: Any speech except for Impromptu

• If a student competes with more than 2 speeches, subsequent speeches can be any speech, including Impromptu.

At Legacy club meetings, students can practice and get coached on Interp speeches, Platform speeches, and Limited Prep speeches, except for Impromptu.  We may also have additional optional meetings where students can receive additional instruction and practice for Limited Prep speeches.
